Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does hereby thank Amy Kellman for her years of service to the young readers of the City of Pittsburgh; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Council does hereby declare Saturday, May 9, 2009, to be “Amy Kellman Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Amy Kellman served as Program Specialist, Children's Services, at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Kellman is a past president of the Association for Library Service to Children; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Kellman is a past president of the United States Board on Books for Young People, a former lecturer in Pitt's School of Information Sciences, and has served on the Batchelder, Caldecott, and Newbery award committees; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Kellman continues to consult and teach children's literature; and
WHEREAS, about Ms. Kellman, Newbery Award winning, Pennsylvania author Jerry Spinelli wrote
"One doesn't get to be a Pennsylvania author without encountering the wonderful work of Amy Kellman and the Carnegie Library.  Congratulations, Amy, on bringing so much good to generations of Keystone readers." and
WHEREAS, Ms. Kellman has been and is a beloved fan of literature for children and young adults, an advocate for reading, and a promoter of the finest literature available; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Kellman is being recognized at Prime Stage Theatre for her years of work supporting authors of literature for children and young adults; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does hereby thank Amy Kellman for her years of service to the young readers of the City of Pittsburgh; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Council does hereby declare Saturday, May 9, 2009, to be "Amy Kellman Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
