Title
Resolution providing for the continuation of the Declaration of Disaster Emergency issued by the Mayor of the City of Pittsburgh, dated April 21, 2009, as it pertains to the existing disaster emergency associated with the Davis Avenue Bridge.

Body
WHEREAS: On or about April 20, 2009, a Structural Engineering Services Report/Inspection performed on the Davis Avenue Bridge, in the City of Pittsburgh, by Michael Baker Jr.,Inc., recommended closing the bridge to pedestrian traffic to assure adequate safety to the public having access on or beneath the structure; and

WHEREAS: This bridge may endanger the health, safety and welfare of a number of persons residing in the City of Pittsburgh and threatens to create problems greater in scope than the City of Pittsburgh may be able to resolve; and

WHEREAS: Emergency management measures are required to reduce the severity of this situation and to protect the health, safety and welfare of affected residents in the City of Pittsburgh; and

WHEREAS: On April 21, 2009, the Mayor of the City of Pittsburgh, pursuant to Section 7501 of the Pennsylvania Emergency management Services Code, (35 PA.C.S.), as amended, and City Ordinance 6 of 2006, declared the existence of a disaster emergency in the City of Pittsburgh; and

WHEREAS: The Mayor of the City of Pittsburgh directed the City of Pittsburgh Public Safety Director to coordinate the activities of the emergency response, to take all appropriate action needed to alleviate the effects of this disaster, to aid in the restoration of essential public services, and to take any other emergency response action deemed necessary to respond to this disaster emergency:
