Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate Comcast for its concentrated efforts to help with the improvement of our communities through its eighth annual Comcast Cares Day; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, April 25, 2009 , to be “ COMCAST CARES DAY” and the week of April 27th, 2009, to be “COMCAST CARES WEEK” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Comcast is committed to improving the quality of life in local communities where its customers and employees live and work; and,
 
WHEREAS, Comcast works with existing local organizations to positively impact each community it serves  while using its resources to bring visibility to important local issues      ; and,
 
WHEREAS, on Saturday, April 25, 2009, Comcast, in partnership with the National Urban League and its Pittsburgh office, celebrates its eighth annual Comcast Cares Day; and,
 
WHEREAS, Comcast volunteers will perform cleaning, painting and landscaping activities at the Circle C Youth and Family Homes for Girls on Seabright Street and on Island Avenue on the North Side; planting of trees and landscaping in Allegheny Commons Park, landscaping and cleaning at the Northview Heights Family Support Center on Hazlett Street and landscaping three homes on Chessland Street in Westwood; and,
 
WHEREAS, last year, during the seventh annual Comcast Cares Day in the Three Rivers Region, more than 1,800 Comcast employees and family members volunteered their time in various communities, making improvements in the Oakland and Lawrenceville neighborhoods, serving meals to seniors on the North Side and planting flowers outside the Liberty and Fort Pitt Tunnels ; and,
 
WHEREAS, this year, almost 2,000 Comcast volunteers will be contributing to local communities throughout the city of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County; and,
