WHEREAS, Community Day School is an independent K-8 Jewish day school serving the Western Pennsylvania community dedicated to educating children from a wide range of Jewish backgrounds, practices and beliefs by providing the students with the tools to grow their potential as educated, committed and ethical members of society and with a strong bond to the Jewish People and the State of Israel; and,
WHEREAS, Community Day School will be honoring Elaine and Carl Krasik as recipients of the 5th Annual Community Leadership Award for the difference they have made at Community Day School and for the contributions they have made to the broader community; and,
WHEREAS, Community Day School will also recognize, Dr. Jonathan Weinkle, as a featured alumni who represents the hopes and dreams for a graduate from Community Day School who has grown up Jewishly and made a professional mark in the community; and,
WHEREAS, these awards will be presented at the Community Day School event, "A Night at the Movies", to be held Thursday, March 26, 2009, at the Southside Works Cinema; and,

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the Community Day School for its commitment to the education of Jewish students and congratulates Elaine and Carl Krasik and Dr. Jonathan Weinkle for their dedication to the Community Day School ; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Thursday, March 26, 2009, to be "COMMUNITY DAY SCHOOL DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.
