WHEREAS, on January 4, 2009, in the early morning a fire had engulfed the back section of 608 and 610 Pressley Street in District 1 by the time firefighters arrived; and
WHEREAS, despite icy conditions, 21 residents were safely evacuated from eleven units, including ten adults and eleven children, and no one was injured in this five-alarm fire; and
WHEREAS, firefighters were able to contain the fire and minimize damage to the adjoining properties, including the historic Priory Hotel, recently rehabbed home next door, and the home of Ed and Mary Ann Graf, the home of John and Suzanne Graf, and other surrounding buildings;

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and honor the following individuals for their brave and heroic work with this fire, as representative of all the good work done each day in the City of Pittsburgh by our firefighters:
