Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby recognizes Roland Coston-Criswell for his many accomplishments, leading by example, and for his unrelenting commitment to educating the community; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby proclaim Tuesday, October 21, 2008 as "Roland Coston-Criswell Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Samuel E. Coston Funeral Home, Inc. located at 427 Lincoln Avenue in Pittsburgh, Pa., was established by Samuel and Wanda Coston in 1963. Their mission was and still remains to be to provide: "Personalized premier family care through service to the community with integrity, respect, tenderness and unbiased attention to all"; and
WHEREAS, in 1999, Samuel's grandson, Roland J. Coston-Criswell, graduated from Mortuary School and began working in the family business. He is a native of the Lincoln-Larimer area and attended Lincoln Elementary School. He graduated from Shadyside Academy in 1999 and attended Morgan State University
 
WHEREAS, in 2002, Roland was promoted to manage the business and in December 2005 he acquired the business. Under Roland's leadership as president, the average number of services per year has increased by over 100% between 2000-2004 and has opened a second location on the Northside in December 2007; and
 
WHEREAS, Samuel E. Coston Funeral Home, Inc. has received several awards including the Pursuit of Excellence Award honors for outstanding service to families, commitment to ongoing education and professional development, and dedication to uphold the highest ethical and professional standards; and
