Title
Resolution providing for the designation as a Historic Structure under Title 11 of the Code of Ordinances that certain structure known as the former National Negro Opera Company House, located at 7101 Apple Street, block and lot number 173-N-87, in the 12th Ward, City of Pittsburgh.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh has duly enacted Title 11of the Code of Ordinances, which protects and preserves Historic Structures, Districts, Sites, and Objects; and
WHEREAS, the Young Preservationists Association of Pittsburgh, a non-profit organization, has nominated the former National Negro Opera Company House (7101 Apple Street) for designation as a Historic Structure; and
WHEREAS, the Historic Review Commission has held a public hearing to gather testimony from the property owner and other interested parties concerning the appropriateness of this designation; and
WHEREAS, the Historic Review Commission has voted to recommend that City Council DESIGNATE the National Negro Opera Company House (7101 Apple Street) as a Historic Structure; and
WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission has held a public hearing to gather testimony from the property owner and other interested parties concerning the appropriateness of this designation; and
WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission has voted to recommend that City Council DESIGNATE the former National Negro Opera Company House (7101 Apple Street) as a Historic Structure; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh has held a public hearing to gather testimony from the public concerning the appropriateness of this designation; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh finds that the aforementioned building is a Historic Structure that should be preserved;
