Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the 2007 retirees and awardees of Fort Pitt Lodge #1 Fraternal Order of Police for their dedication and commitment to protecting and serving the people of the City of Pittsburgh; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, February 22, 2008 to be "Fort Pitt Lodge #1 Fraternal Order of Police Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Fort Pitt Lodge #1 Fraternal Order of Police is the voice of those who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving our communities; and

WHEREAS, Fort Pitt Lodge #1 Fraternal Order of Police is committed to improving the working conditions of law enforcement officers and the safety of those they serve through education, legislation, information, community involvement and employee representation; and

WHEREAS, Fort Pitt Lodge #1 Fraternal Order of Police is hosting its Annual Retirement and Awards Dinner Party on Friday, February 22, 2008, at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church; and

WHEREAS, the following twenty-eight (28) officers who have retired in 2007 will be honored for their years of service:

WHEREAS, in addition to these retirees being honored for their years of service to the residents of the City of Pittsburgh, the following awards are being presented as well:
· The Annual Pat McNamara Award to Edward T. Quigley
· Lifetime Achievement Award to James J. Holliday
· Meritorious Achievement Award Winners to Colleen M. Brust and Sandra Follett
for Commitment to duty during the apprehension of a dangerous home invasion suspect
