WHEREAS, on March 1, 2008 the Kollel Jewish Learning Center will host its annual Melava Malka Dinner at the Jewish Community Center; and
WHEREAS, the dinner is dedicated to the memory of Mr. Mikey Butler and will honor Drs. Joel and Tova Weinberg; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Mikey Butler was an inspiration to the Jewish community of Pittsburgh throughout his struggle with cystic fibrosis; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Butler was a volunteer for the Hebrew Academy for Special Children, a national outreach counselor for the National Conference of Synagogue Youth, a Yeshiva University graduate, professional drummer, and student leader; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Butler was a model of Orthodox faith, tradition, duty, and honor for the Pittsburgh area; and
WHEREAS, Drs. Joel and Tova Weinberg constantly worked to provide treatment and hope for Mr. Butler and his family throughout his fight, and refused to accept an initial prognosis that he was untreatable; and
WHEREAS, the Weinbergs continue to serve patients in the Pittsburgh area and remain active in the Pittsburgh Jewish community with their roles in various organizations.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh honors the memory of Mikey Butler and commends Drs. Joel and Tova Weinberg for their courage and compassion; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares March 1, 2008, "Melava Malka Dinner 2008 Day" in the City of Pittsburgh
