WHEREAS, the Sickle Cell Society, Inc. is hosting its Eleventh Recognition Dinner on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the Hilton Pittsburgh to honor Lisa G. Sarneso, Vice President and General Manager, The Pepsi Bottling Group; and
WHEREAS, the Recognition Dinner is designed for the Society, to recognize the philanthropic impact an individual has made and continues to make in assisting the Society, to sustain its thirty-six year commitment in the provision of sickle cell disease education, screening, counseling, treatment and research; and
WHEREAS, in terms of contributions to the Society, Lisa G. Sarneso, was extremely responsible for the Society, to create a website, which provides historical, clinical and psychosocial information about sickle cell disease; and
WHEREAS, during Lisa G. Sarneso's, tenure at The Pepsi Bottling Group, she has also been very instrumental in using the philanthropic support of The Pepsi Bottling Group, to help other programs and projects to benefit those in dire need of social and educational support; and

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does hereby recognize and commend Lisa G. Sarneso, for her philanthropic contributions to the Sickle Cell Society, Inc.; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does hereby declare Thursday, February 28, 2008, to be designated as "LISA G. SARNESO DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.
