WHEREAS, The Mentoring Partnership of Southwestern Pennsylvania will be honoring Bill Isler with its prestigious 2007 Thieman Award at its dinner on October 18, 2007 ; and,
WHEREAS, The Mentoring Partnership of Southwestern Pennsylvania is designed to expand community capacity to support quality mentoring relationships for youth in our region through community based, faith based, school based and work based programs; and,
WHEREAS, Bill Isler has been a community asset throughout his professional career and is currently President of Family Communications, Inc. and Executive Director of the Fred M. Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children's Media at Saint Vincent's College; and,
WHEREAS, Bill Isler is also currently President of the Board of the Pittsburgh Public Schools and serves on the boards of St. Vincent College, The Carnegie Museums, the Carnegie Library, The Children's Hospital Foundation and the Grable Foundation as well as other committees and initiatives ; and,
WHEREAS, The Mentoring Partnership of Southwestern Pennsylvania will be hosting The Magic of Mentoring Recognition Event on Thursday, October 18, 2007, at Heinz Field to honor the area's 150 outstanding programs and mentoring relationships that make up The Mentoring Partnership and honoring Bill Isler for his service to The Mentoring Partnership of Southwestern Pennsylvania and for his capacity as an outstanding role model to the next generation of leaders
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize The Mentoring Partnership of Southwestern Pennsylvania for its important work and congratulates Bill Isler for receiving the prestigious 2007 Thieman Award; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, October 18, 2007, to be BILL ISLER DAY in the City of Pittsburgh.
