Title: WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh joins the Nation in declaring the month of MAY as "Older Americans Month"; and WHEREAS, this year marks the 42nd Anniversary of the passage of the "Older Americans Act" by the United States Congress; and WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh wishes to celebrate the many contributions of its citizens age sixty and older, their families, and their caregivers; and Whereas, there are 10 Senior High Rises currently in Council District 1: Brighton Heights City Senior Center Pressley Street High Rise Carnegie Library Senior Center Riverview Manor Senior High Rise East North Side Senior Center Sheptsky Arms High Rise Lynn William Senior Apartments Steelworkers Towers High Rise Northview Heights Senior Center St. Ambrose High Rise WHEREAS, America's aging population reached a turning point in 2006 as one of our nation's largest generations, the baby boomers, started turning 60-becoming eligible for programs under the Older Americans Act; and W...

WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh joins the Nation in declaring the month of MAY as "Older Americans Month"; and

 

WHEREAS, this year marks the 42nd Anniversary of the passage of the "Older Americans Act" by the United States Congress; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh wishes to celebrate the many contributions of its citizens age sixty and older, their families, and their caregivers; and

 

Whereas, there are 10 Senior High Rises currently in Council District 1:

East North Side Senior Center                                          Sheptsky Arms High Rise

WHEREAS, America's aging population reached a turning point in 2006 as one of our nation's largest generations, the baby boomers, started turning 60-becoming eligible for programs under the Older Americans Act; and

 

WHEREAS, all Older Americans should be honored and celebrated for all that they have achieved and all their hard work and dedication to the City; and

 

WHEREAS, we urge all to promote and participate in activities that contribute to helping older Americans make choices for a healthy and rewarding future.

 

Now therefore BE IT RESOVED THAT The Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize all the Older Americans and proclaim May 2007 to be "Older Americans Month" in the City of Pittsburgh.
