Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does urge the citizens of the County of Allegheny to join in supporting those philanthropic organizations that help make life in the County of Allegheny a better place. BE IT FUTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does recognize Wednesday, November 15, 2006,as "National Philanthropy Day" and gives our thanks to those who support Philanthropic organizations.

WHEREAS, National Philanthropy Day will be observed on Wednesday, November 15, 2006; and
 
WHEREAS, there are more than 350,000 nonprofit philanthropic organizations in Pennsylvania that are largely responsible for enhancing the quality of life for our State and County Citizens and others throughout our country and world; and
 
WHEREAS, the people of the County of Allegheny owe a great debt to the schools, religious organizations, museums, art and music centers, youth groups, health and human services, research institutions and organizations that aid and comfort the elderly, the disadvantaged and the sick; and
 
WHEREAS, The Association of Fundraising Professionals, Western Pennsylvania Chapter plans to honor the following persons: Jennifer Cohens as Outstanding Philanthropist; Mark Gray and Joyce O'Connor as outstanding Volunteer Fundraisers; Pittsburgh Pirates Wives as outstanding Philanthropic Organization; Carson Middle School (North Allegheny School District) as Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy; Ruth Egler as Special Lifetime Achievement Award and Robert Carter, CFRE as Outstanding Fundraising Executive.
