WHEREAS, State of Israel Bonds is a development corporation tasked with selling securities issued by Israel's government to finance infrastructure improvements for the country; and
WHEREAS, Shirley and Ron Barasch have served the Jewish community for over five decades, and they are devoted supporters of Israel and State of Israel Bonds; and
WHEREAS, many Jewish Communal organizations, including Congregation Beth Shalom, United Jewish Federation, Jewish National Fund and State of Israel Bonds have also benefited from their involvement; and
WHEREAS, Shirley is a Life Member of Hadassah and B'nai B'rith Women; and
WHEREAS, Ron is a member of Beth Shalom Men's Club, Hebrew Free Loan and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum; and
WHEREAS, Shirley and Ron will be honored on November 29, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at the Congregation Beth Shalom in Squirrel Hill for their commitment to the congregation, their dedication to Israel and their continued support of State of Israel Bonds.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby commends and thanks Shirley and Ron Barasch for all that they have done for both the local community and the global one.
