Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Josephine Kenney for her work for the betterment of the community and congratulates her for 62 years of marriage and being a wonderful and caring wife and mother. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that December 13, 2005 be hereby declared "Josephine Kenney Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Josephine Bujarski was born in McKeesport and moved to the South Side with her family in the 1920's; and

WHEREAS, Josephine lived through the big flu epidemic, floods and saw her husband and brothers leave to fight in World War II. She lived through the Great Depression, and the boom and fall of Pittsburgh Steel Mills; and

WHEREAS, Josephine had a very active working career. She was a manager of a discount drug store, time keeper at US Glass—at the time when they were making Shirley Temple blue cereal bowls, and secretary at the Goren Company in Downtown Pittsburgh; and

WHEREAS, in 1966, Josephine started working for the City of Pittsburgh. She was employed as a receptionist for Mayor Joseph Barr and excelled to the position of Fiscal Officer for the Federal Programs Department, where she worked to fund a lot of the non-profits in the City that dealt with work training and education by her retirement in 1984; and

WHEREAS, throughout her life, Josephine has also been an integral member the South Side Community. She was a member of the South Side Community Council, president of Friends of the Library for 9 years, member and president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of District 29, and a choir member for Prince of Peace Parish; and

WHEREAS, Josephine spent 62 wonderful years with her husband Clarence Kenney. They are the proud parents of a son and daughter, and their spouses and two granddaughters and one grandson; and

WHEREAS, in Josephine's retirement years, she loves to travel, talk politics and spend time with her family.
