Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does take this opportunity to honor the legacy of Mrs. Leatrice A. Sheffey, through her family and the community in which she enriched by her presence-"Let the works I've done speak for me".

Whereas Leatrice Ann Sheffey, (Leacy) as she was so affectionately known, was born on November 22, 1936, to Ms. Freda Gittings, she was the first of six children; and
 
Whereas, Mrs. Sheffey graduated from Peabody High School. During such youthful beginnings, Mrs. Sheffey was admired by a young man by the name of Richard N. Sheffey. After years of courting they married on May 17, 1958 to this union are six children: Sharon, Deborah, (Reverend) Annette, Anita, Richard, and Adrienne; and
 
Whereas, Mrs. Sheffey had been employed some thirty years in the managing and retailing industry. Though a nurse and counselor at heart, Mrs. Sheffey in her early years worked at the old Mansmann's Department Store, Skip 'N Hop kids clothing store in East Liberty, a boutique in Squirrel Hill and later in life at Kid's Spot, a clothing store for children. In the spring of 1992 Mr. Sheffey founded East End Formals, Inc. It was there Mrs. Sheffey's supervisory position began; and
 
Whereas, Mrs. Sheffey was know as the Ambassor to the Lincoln - Lemington community, mothering and caring for those in need of love and attention. Her caring was spotlighted in the 1970's when concerns of safety for children crossing too and from Lemington School with no traffic light or crossing guard became an issue. Mrs. Sheffey's voice was heard by the community and media ultimately speaking loud enough to make a difference. Today a crossing guard and a traffic light sit on the corner of Lemington and Paulson Avenues.
