Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby acknowledges and commends those involved in sustaining the transgender community's civil rights and who have fought against gender based violence and discrimination;

WHEREAS, the transgendered community, as well as their supporters, have been active in promoting the rights of all people, and have joined together to fight against gender based violence and discrimination; and
 
WHEREAS, on Sunday, November 20th, 2005, the transgender and allied communities within Pittsburgh will gather to honor the Transgender Day of Remembrance at St. Andrews Lutheran Church on 304 Morewood Avenue in Shadyside; and
 
WHEREAS, through the vigil, the supporters will express their love and respect for those who have faced indifference and hatred, and the Day of Remembrance reminds non-transgender men and women that those who remain are their sons, daughters, parents, friends and partners; and
