Title
Resolution authorizing the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh to submit an Application for Financial Assistance in the amount of up to $6,000,000 to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for the operation and administration of certain programs in FY 2005-2006. (Council Districts: All).

Whereas, the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh (“URA”) administers the Urban Development Fund, East Liberty Revitalization, Beltzhoover Housing, Streetface, Neighborhood Housing, Housing Recovery, Community Development Investment Fund, Public Space Improvements, Industrial Site Acquisition, Hazelwood Revitalization, Centre Avenue Revitalization, Federal Hill Revitalization, Pittsburgh Housing Construction Fund, Rental Housing Development and Improvement, Garfield Housing, Closed Schools and Lawrenceville Revitalization programs (the “Programs”); and
Whereas, URA wishes to obtain financial assistance from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the amount of $6,000,000 for the Programs; and
Whereas, URA has prepared the DCED Single Application for Assistance under the under the FY 2005-2006 Housing and Redevelopment Assistance Program which is available at the URA's offices; and
Whereas, URA has indicated in the Application that Community Development Block Grant, HOME and private funds in the amount of $13,127,970 will be provided by the City of Pittsburgh as the local share of project costs; and
Whereas, the City of Pittsburgh and URA are desirous of obtaining funds from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for the prevention and elimination of blight under Section 4(c) of the Housing and Redevelopment Assistance Law, as amended.
