Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Fred Seddon for his work for the betterment of the community and congratulates him for over 53 years of marriage and being a wonderful and caring father to his children. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that August 30, 2005 be hereby declared "Fred Seddon Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Fred Seddon was a committee man in the Arlington Neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh from 1952 through 1996; and
 
WHEREAS, one of Fred's greatest achievements as committee man was to successfully push for the opening of Caliguiri Hall, a Senior Citizen Center for Arlington residents; and
 
WHEREAS, Fred was also a Constable for 18 years; and
 
WHEREAS, Fred is a retired steel worker of 38 ½ years from J&L Steel and is a member of SOAR (Steelworkers of America Retired); and
 
WHEREAS, Fred married Mathilda Seddon on January 3, 1942.  Fred and Till are the loving parents of 6 children, the grandparents of 8 grandchildren and the great-grandparents of 7 great-grandchildren; and
 
WHEREAS, Fred's greatest hobby was spending all of his free time with his family.
