Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, does hereby recognize and acknowledge Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. for the vessel it provides to health research, education, and improving the quality of life locally and internationally. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, declares August 11th through August 14th, 2005, "Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc." Days in the City of Pittsburgh, wishing you much success in your endeavors.

WHEREAS, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will hold its 45th Eastern Regional Conference from August 11th through August 14th, 2005 at the David Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh;  and
 
WHEREAS,  founded in 1913, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has clearly established itself as a public service organization that strives to confront the problems of African Americans and, hence, all Americans; and
 
WHEREAS, in realizing its mission, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. provides an extensive array of public services through its Five-Point  Program Thrust of Physical and Mental Health, Educational Development, Economic Development, International Awareness and involvement, Political Awareness and involvement; and
 
WHEREAS, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has a international membership of more than 200,000 women and has demonstrated a vital concern for academic excellence, social welfare and cultural enrichment; and
 
WHEREAS, this years conference is expecting to host approximately 2,000 delegates from the mid-Atlantic Region of the United States and its territories.
