Title
Ordinance amending the Pittsburgh Code, Title One-Administrative, Article IX-Boards, Commissions and Authorities, by adding a new section at Chapter 180 in order to create a Clean Pittsburgh Commission.
Body
Whereas, it is in the best interest of any community to maintain a clean healthy environment in its business districts and residential neighborhoods as it speaks to the quality of life of a community; and

Whereas, in order to promote, coordinate, and fund efforts to maintain a litter free and attractive living environment, a focused effort is required by citizens, institutions and government; and,

Whereas, the people of the City of Pittsburgh have expressed their desire to improve the overall quality of life in their city. Citizens have historically supported coordinated efforts to eradicate blight, clean city lots and streets, plant community gardens, sponsor murals, and recycle products from plastics to newsprint in that effort; and,

Whereas, it is of great benefit to maintain a clean city and to do so in a coordinated, productive fashion.

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

Section 1. Amending the Pittsburgh Code, Title One-Administrative, Article IX-Boards, Commissions and Authorities, by adding a new section at Chapter 180 in order to create a Clean Pittsburgh Commission.

ยง180.01 The Clean Pittsburgh Commission is hereby established to fulfill the following purposes:
(a) to act as the primary resource for addressing quality of life issues in Pittsburgh's communities through education, community clean-ups, beautification and ordinance enforcement;
(b) to coordinate communication among neighborhood organizations as to how best to maintain and improve neighborhood environments;
