Whereas, on Friday, December 17th, 2004, Nabhi Christian Ministries will be holding its annual Christmas Peace Awards Banquet through its outreach program Concerned Citizens of Greater Pittsburgh to honor those who have dedicated themselves to improving the communities in the area and have achieved extraordinary progress; and
Whereas, at this year's event Nahbi will be awarding those who have done outstanding service for the community through volunteering, government, or business. Honorees include State Senator Jim Ferlo, Miracle T. Reed, Malek Bankston, Earl Williams, Jr., Robert Grimes, Fred Giles, Ellis Kaiser-Drobney, Phyllis Hull, Brittany Jernigan, James Moore, Doniece Cheeks, and Chateisha Mofett. Sadly, Maurice LaMar Walker and Celica Flewellan, two wonderful individuals who brightened the community, will be honored with the Peace Award posthumously; and
Whereas, since 1996 Nabhi has trained ministers who demonstrate love to all people regardless of their age race, national origin, or financial state, and have managed programs that provide social services and life skills training for at risk individuals. The programs include but are not limited to drug and alcohol recovery, teen pregnancy prevention, educational mentoring, and economic development.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does recognize and commend Nahbi Christian Ministries and its director Ms. Jacque Fielder for all its efforts in helping so many of those in need of aid in the city.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, December 17th, 2004 Nabhi Christian Ministries Day.
