Title: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes Fred Reginella, a truly unique individual and a notable presence as he retires and commends him for 20 years of dedicated and professional service to the City of Pittsburgh. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Monday, December 20, 2004, to be "Fred Reginella Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, on May 1, 1984 following many years of professional experience as a civil engineer with a number of Pittsburgh based engineering firms, Fred Reginella joined the City of Pittsburgh as Assistant Director of Engineering; and
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Reginella came to Pittsburgh with his family from Pereto, Italy in 1949 and settled in Bloomfield; received engineering degrees from the University of Pittsburgh and eventually moved to Greenfield where he and his wife of 47 years, Rose  raised three children; and
 
WHEREAS, during Mr. Reginella's tenure in the Department of Engineering and Construction, first as assistant and then as director for the past eleven years, he has worked tirelessly to elevate the standard of professionalism of all of the employees under his authority while managing the City's capital program for streets, bridges, city owned buildings and recreational facilities and overseeing all traffic-related activities; and
 
WHEREAS, Mr. Reginella is a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America, the American Society of Highway Engineers, the Greenfield Baseball Association as well as a many other civic and professional organizations and received the American Society of Civil Engineers Pittsburgh Section Award for Service to the People in 2003.
