WHEREAS, for the past 37 years, Right Reverend Mitred Archpriest Monsignor Michael Poloway has resided as Pastor of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church on Pittsburgh's South Side; and
WHEREAS, for 31 years, he has presented the radio program, "Christ Among Us" over the airwaves on WPIT Radio; and
WHEREAS, for decades he has been a dedicated supporter of the Ukrainian participation in the Pittsburgh Folk Festival; and
WHEREAS, he actively participates and organizes Ecumenical and Community events since he arrived in Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, prior to moving to the City of Pittsburgh, Monsignor Poloway was the Dean of the Central Deanery of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of St. Josaphat for 29 years in Parma, Ohio; and
WHEREAS, for his endless years of dedicated service to the Ukrainian community, the Ukrainian Technological Society will present Monsignor Poloway the 2004 Ukrainian of the Year Award on November 20, 2004 at the Pittsburgh Athletic Association.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Right Reverend Mitred Archpriest Monsignor Michael Poloway for his leadership, accomplishments, countless service and dedication to the church and to the congregation and congratulates him on his acceptance of the 2004 Ukrainian of the Year Award.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that November 20, 2004 be hereby declared "Right Reverend Mitred Archpriest Monsignor Michael Poloway Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
