WHEREAS, on Sunday October 24, 2004 Jerusalem Baptist Church, 123 Steuben Street, West End Neighborhood, 20th Ward, City of Pittsburgh is holding installation services for their new Pastor and First Lady, Reverend Darius J. Jeffries and Avonita Jeffries; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Jeffries received his divine call to the ministry at age 12 and was licensed to preach at age 13; he studied at the Christian Leadership University and is currently enrolled in Logos Bible College; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Jeffries began his ministry at St. Mark's Baptist church in Canton Ohio, and during his early years in the ministry he served in many capacities including youth pastor, men's ministry coordinator and staff pastor; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Jeffries was ordained on July 9, 2000 and in 2003 married the former Avonita L. Byrd and relocated to Pittsburgh serving at the Shiloh Community Missionary Baptist Church under the guidance of Reverend Hubert D. Hutcherson; and
WHEREAS, on August 15, 2004, Reverend Jeffries was called to Shepherd the Jerusalem Baptist Church as Pastor, realizing his life long dream.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh CONGRATULATES Reverend and Mrs. Darius Jeffries on their installation as Pastor and First Lady of the Jerusalem Baptist Church; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Sunday October 24, 2004 is declared Reverend and Mrs. Darius Jeffries Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
