WHEREAS, the South Pittsburgh Hilltop neighborhoods of Allentown, Arlington, Knoxville, Mt Washington, Carrick, Mt Oliver, and Bon Air have been declared a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA). Residents lack access to quality health care and as a result, suffer from a wide array of health disparities; and
WHEREAS, the Hilltop Community HealthCare Partnership's efforts to improve the quality of health of South Pittsburgh Hilltop neighborhoods are supported by Beltzhoover Citizens Community Development Corporation, Sto-Rox Neighborhood Health Center, the Birmingham Foundation, Bureau of Primary Health, PA Department of Health, the City of Pittsburgh, and Federal, State and local governments; and
WHEREAS, the Beltzhoover Citizens Community Development Corporation and Sto-Rox Neighborhood Health Center have partnered together to establish the Hilltop Community HealthCare Center in the Neighborhood of Beltzhoover, a medically under-served community; and
WHEREAS, the Hilltop Community HealthCare Center's mission focuses on addressing health disparities and providing access to quality healthcare to ALL South Pittsburgh residents; and
WHEREAS, the Beltzhoover Citizens Community Development Corporation will celebrate the Grand Opening of the Hilltop Community HealthCare Center on October 30, 2004.

NOW THEREFORE BE RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends and congratulates the Beltzhoover Citizens Community Development Corporation for their efforts in bringing a solution to quality of healthcare issues in the Hill Top Neighborhoods of the City of Pittsburgh, thanks all of the organizations and entities involved and endorses and supports the grand opening of the Hilltop Community HealthCare Center on October 30, 2004.
