Title
Resolution requesting and authorizing the Mayor and his designees to submit an application on behalf of the citizens of the City of Pittsburgh in the form of a grant for Financial Assistance in the amount of $  to Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development under the Emergency Responders Resources & Training Program (ERRTP)
Body
Whereas, with the enactment of Act 9A of 2004 Governor Rendell appropriated $5.5 Million Dollars to the Emergency Responders Resources & Training Program (ERRTP) under the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for counties, cities and municipalities for the purpose of acquisition, construction and rehabilitation of or upgrades to facilities and equipment to support the operation of fire, ambulance and emergency medical services, operational support for fire, ambulance and emergency medical services that enhances the health, safety and welfare of Pennsylvania citizens, and;
 
Whereas, given the needs for operational support, physical improvements of the City's public safety department and considering our current fiscal crisis immediate application is necessary in order for the state to consider such application for the benefit of the residents of both the city and the region.
 
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
 
Section 1.  The Mayor and his designees are directed and authorized to submit an application on behalf of the citizens of the City of Pittsburgh in the form of a grant for Financial Assistance in the amount of $    to Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development under the Emergency Responders Resources & Training Program (ERRTP).
