Title: WHEREAS, National Employee Ownership Month, first celebrated in 1982 by the National Center for Employee Ownership, is celebrated nationwide, every October; and,

WHEREAS, National Employee Ownership Month, first celebrated in 1982 by the National Center for Employee Ownership, is celebrated nationwide, every October; and,

WHEREAS, Pittsburgh is poised to become a national leader in creating employee ownership, which stimulates economic growth, maintains and creates stable jobs, and enhances communities; and,

WHEREAS, in 2019 the nonprofit Pennsylvania Center for Employee Ownership (PaCEO) and The City of Pittsburgh, with the support of the Heinz Endowments, Chatham University, the University of Pittsburgh, and volunteer leaders across the region, created the nation's first citywide task force on employee ownership to improve the financial lives of working citizens in Pittsburgh; and,

WHEREAS, the PaCEO has made great progress in increasing the awareness of the benefits associated with employee ownership in the Greater Pittsburgh region and throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; and,

WHEREAS, the PaCEO seeks to bolster Pittsburgh's economy by increasing the number of employee-owned businesses throughout the region, thereby exemplifying that businesses that invest in their employees bring success into our local economy; and,

WHEREAS, the PaCEO officially launched a strategic and widespread awareness campaign in September as a product of the Pittsburgh Citywide Task Force on Employee Ownership's work; and,

WHEREAS, the PaCEO will continue to serve our region, strengthen employee ownership, and help to foster economic prosperity in the region; and,

WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh commends congratulates and supports the great work of the PaCEO and the Pittsburgh Citywide Task Force on Employee Ownership for important work.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and honor the work and dedication of the PaCEO and the importance of encouraging and recognizing employee ownership within and beyond the borders of Pittsburgh, and Allegheny Coun...
