Title: WHEREAS, Mary (D'Uva) Pollice, was born in Campobasso, Italy and came to the United States in 1947, when she was fourteen years old. Mary was brought over to the states by her older brother, Arthur, who is now deceased. Mary also had a brother, Romano (deceased), and a sister, Rose, who resides in the state of Washington, and;

WHEREAS, Mary has been married to Lou Pollice for seventy years. Together they created a beautiful family that is continuing to grow. Mary and Lou have raised three adult children. Mary Dee Wisneski. Anthony Pollice, and Carmelina Alzenti. Together they have five grandchildren and one great grandchild, and;

WHEREAS, Mary has many hobbies, and she loves to cook and bake, hosting for many years Christmas eve dinner for her family. She also is a fantastic gardener, floral arrangement creator, and avid reader, and;

 

WHEREAS, Mary celebrated her 90th birthday on August 15th, 2023. Mary is devoted to her family, acting as, a caregiver to her mother along with other members of the family. Mary is kind and strong in her faith, and;

 

WHEREAS, Mary attended St. Catherine of Sienna grade school and St. Mary of the Mount High School. Mary also has a very strong catholic faith and attends or views mass daily, and;

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Tuesday August 15,2023, to be “Mary Pollice Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
