WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh urges the Council of Allegheny County to adopt legislation declining to use county resources to assist in out of state criminal and civil investigations into matters of gender-affirming care; and,

WHEREAS, the ordinances Council is prepared to pass protecting the rights and privacy of our residents receiving and providing gender-affirming care will be greatly supported by similar action by the government of Allegheny County; and,
WHEREAS, coordination and consistency between the City and County is vital to proper law enforcement in the City of Pittsburgh and in the County as a whole; and,
WHEREAS, the County government has broad discretionary power in the development of medical policy in Allegheny County; and,
WHEREAS, the County has greater jurisdiction to improve medical policies for TLGBQ+ persons who are incarcerated; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh and County of Allegheny share the goal of protecting the privacy and safety of recipients, providers, and parents of those receiving gender-affirming care; and,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby urges the Council of Allegheny County to adopt legislation declining to use county resources to assist in out of state criminal and civil investigations into matters of gender-affirming care.
