Resolution authorizing the Mayor and the Director of the Department Parks and Recreation, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, to enter into a professional services agreement with Homewood Community Sports (HCS) for community liaison services at an amount not to exceed THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS AND NO CENTS ($300,000).

WHEREAS, HOMEWOOD COMMUNITY SPORTS (HCS) acted as community liaison for the Homewood Park Infrastructure Upgrades project, assisting the Department of Public Works (DPW) and their project team through the community engagement phase of the project; and

 

WHEREAS, HCS is uniquely suited for this role as the predominant user of the site for the past 50+ years; and

 

WHEREAS, HCS is a trusted partner to many key stakeholders and organizations in the community and throughout the two-year duration of the project, they assisted DPW in the outreach and scheduling of community meetings; attending biweekly meetings on behalf of the community with DPW staff; and communicating important updates and milestones to the Homewood community; and

 

WHEREAS, HCS will train players to tend the turf at Homewood Field and engage players in violence reduction strategies; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh now wishes to enter into an agreement with HCS for community liaison services.

 

 

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

 

Section 1.                     The Mayor and the Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, are authorized to enter into a professional services agreement or agreements with Homewood Community Sports (HCS) for community liaison services at an amount not to exceed THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS AND NO CENTS ($300,000), chargeable to and payable from account code 4029400407.53901.00.

 

Section 2.                     Said agreement shall be approved by the City Solicitor as to form.
