Title: WHEREAS, Patricia O'Kelley was born in West Virginia and was the youngest of 11 children; and,

WHEREAS, Patricia O’Kelley was born in West Virginia and was the youngest of 11 children; and,

WHEREAS, she moved to Pittsburgh at the age of 15 where she graduated from Fifth Avenue High School and Duff’s Business School before attending Point Park University for 2 years; and, 

 

WHEREAS, Patricia is the mother of 3 sons, two of which are US Navy Veterans, grandmother to 6, of which 1 is currently serving in the Air Force, and the great-grandmother of 3; and,

 

WHEREAS, Patricia has been a licensed minister since 2000, and ordained as an Elder or Reverend since 2004 which has led her on a path of volunteer ministry in the Allegheny County Jail for over 15 years; and, 

 

WHEREAS, Patricia had a successful career working for Mellon Bank and KDKA-TV before retiring in 2019 after 40 years of service; and,

 

WHEREAS, Patricia has volunteered with the Allegheny Food Bank, and now the Southwestern Veteran’s Center; and,

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Patricia O’Kelley; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, April 18th, 2023, to be “Patricia O’Kelley Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
