WHEREAS, March 29, 2023 marks 50 years since the U.S. fighting soldiers withdrew from Vietnam. The Veterans Breakfast Club (VBC) and the Pittsburgh’s Heinz History Center are holding a special Vietnam Veterans Day 50th Anniversary Event on March 29, 2023 at the Senator John Heinz History Center; and,

WHEREAS, the event honors and recognizes all veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time during the period of November 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975, regardless of duty location

 

WHEREAS, VBC believes that every Veteran has a story worth telling and should be listened to and treated with respect. Their stories are our history and every Veteran is a valued member of our community; and,

 

WHEREAS, a Veteran’s story connects, heals, educates, and inspires others, and to listen actively, without judgement, is one of the greatest gifts you can give a Veteran and is the responsibility of every citizen to those who have served in the military; and,

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby remember and honor all veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time from November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Wednesday, March 29, 2023 to be “The Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War” in the City of Pittsburgh.
