Title: WHEREAS, coming from such a large family of Veterans, Carmella Mullen is very passionate about preserving the honor, dignity and integrity of veterans and their families. Her late husband Jim Mullen, awarded the Purple Heart as a Marine, won her love and respect for all who served our country; and,

WHEREAS, coming from such a large family of Veterans, Carmella Mullen is very passionate about preserving the honor, dignity and integrity of veterans and their families. Her late husband Jim Mullen, awarded the Purple Heart as a Marine, won her love and respect for all who served our country; and,

WHEREAS, Carmella has served and continues to serve on innumerable committees and volunteers countless hours making sure our veterans are not forgotten, including serving on the Honor Roll Plaque Committee, which placed a Bronze Plaque honoring post-911 soldiers who were KIA from the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, on the wall of the City County Building; and,

WHEREAS, she is also ardent about respect for Law Enforcement and their families. This is evident by her service on the Board of Governor's for the prestigious organization Amen Corner. She also served on the committee for organizing and fundraising a Motorcycle ride in honor of the families of the Three Fallen Heroes of the Pittsburgh Police: Officers Eric Kelly, Paul Sciullo II and Stephen Mayhle and is an honorary member of FOP Lodge 91; and,

WHEREAS, over the years, she has received numerous awards and recognition for her service including, but not limited to, from the Vietnam Veterans, Inc., her involvement in the Rededication of the Boulevard of the Allies, and she was Awarded a replica of the Tuskegee Airmen Congressional Gold Medal; and,

WHEREAS, Carmella is very proud of her two children, Jeff and Dana, and their spouses, and enjoys spending time with her four grandchildren Milan, Isabella, Shawn and Ireland; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Carmella Mullen for her years of dedication to all Veterans who have served in any capacity to protect the rights of the citizens of the United States of America; and,
