Title: WHEREAS, the annual Pittsburgh St. Patrick's Day Parade will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 beginning at 10:00 AM at Greyhound Bus Station and ending at Commonwealth Place; and,

WHEREAS, the annual Pittsburgh St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 beginning at 10:00 AM at Greyhound Bus Station and ending at Commonwealth Place; and,

WHEREAS, first held in 1869, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been occurring non-stop since 1950, has grown in size and splendor. The parade consists of 22,000 participants and draws 200,000 spectators to downtown Pittsburgh for “all Irish for the day”. It has become the oldest and largest parade in the City of Pittsburgh, and the second largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the United States; and,

 

WHEREAS, the magnificent St. Patrick’s Day Parade celebrates Pittsburgh’s Irish heritage and will present marching units including  bands, specialty acts, floats,  local and Irish officials, police,  fire,  emergency service agencies , military bands  and a host of Irish heritage groups; and,

 

WHEREAS, this year’s parade sponsors are the City of Pittsburgh, Seubert & Associate, Trebuchet Consulting, Fort Pitt Capital Group, Rome Monument, Baird Financial, Allegheny County Airport Authority, Teamsters Local 249, Impact Consulting Solutions, Skyworks Equipment Rental, Moran And Moran Attorneys At Law, Synder Automotive Group, Irish Design Center, Guinness - Diageo Brewing, Priory Hospitality Group and Straub Brewery; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Parade will be led by this year’s Grand Marshall, Ray Werner and will include Hibernian of the Year Tim Regan and “Miss Smiling Irish Eyes”, Marigrace Murphy and Miss Smiling Irish Eyes Court Maiden’s- Emalee Eakin and Aibreann Shovlin; and,

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend all of the organizers of and participants in the Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and welcome all Pittsburgh residents to join in the festivities; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare March 5-12, 2023 to be “ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE WEEKin the City of Pittsburgh.
