WHEREAS, Future Business Leaders of America is a nonprofit educational organization whose first chapter was established in Johnson City, Tennessee, in 1942; and

WHEREAS, Pennsylvania’s first FBLA chapter was charted at Blairsville High School in Indiana County in 1943; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania FBLA was officially chartered as a state chapter in 1952; and
WHEREAS, Central Catholic High School officially chartered its FBLA local chapter in 2015; and
WHEREAS, Central Catholic High School students have since won Regional, State, and National competitions, and the 2022-23 Pennsylvania FBLA State President is a student at Central Catholic High School; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania FBLA has grown now to encompass 10,000 members statewide and over 150,000 members and advisers nationwide in middle schools, high schools, colleges, universities, career and technical schools, and private business schools; and
WHEREAS, FBLA is a professional business organization dedicated to bringing business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs; and
WHEREAS, members perform community service activities and strive to build a student’s understanding of the realities of the modern business world; and
WHEREAS, FBLA teaches middle school and high school students basic business and leadership principles; and assists in the transition from school to work;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends the national FBLA organization, and Central Catholic High School’s FBLA program in particular, for its longstanding positive impact on young people.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council declares February 12-18, 2023, to be “National FBLA Week” in the City of Pittsburgh.
