WHEREAS, Heather Howard was a resident of Chartiers City, a neighborhood in the City of Pittsburgh; and,

WHEREAS, as a member of Trinity A.M.E. Zion Church in Sheraden, she was devoted to the Lord and led others to believe.  She spent time volunteering in the church on a regular basis. Some could say it was her home away from home. She enjoyed singing in the choir with her friends and family, including her twin sister; and,

 

WHEREAS, Heather was the front-line person for former Mayor Luke Ravenstahl. She instantly became friends with those who entered the Office of Mayor and her colleagues, including current Mayor Ed Gainey. She got along so well with people of all different types of personalities, she was offered a job by former Mayor Peduto. Heather was able to cross political barriers for the betterment of Pittsburgh, making her a unique and special person; and,

 

WHEREAS, she volunteered for Healthy Active Living Center events, various community and church events, and helped others whenever possible; and, 

 

WHEREAS, she loved her twin, her niece, and her family with her entire heart. Their love for one another was evident to all who knew them.  Heather will be missed by people at Trinity Church, City Hall, and her family and friends. The world was a better place due to Heather's presence; and,  

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Heather Howard; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, January 30, 2023 to be “Heather Howard Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
