Title: WHEREAS, Jack and Jill of America, Inc. was founded January 24, 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at a meeting of 20 mothers who came together to create an organization to provide social, cultural, and educational opportunities for youth between the ages of 2 and 19; and,

WHEREAS, Jack and Jill of America, Inc. was founded January 24, 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at a meeting of 20 mothers who came together to create an organization to provide social, cultural, and educational opportunities for youth between the ages of 2 and 19; and,

WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. was founded in 1944 as the 4th chapter and was at the heart of the development of a plan for the national organization and its incorporation in 1945; and,

 

WHEREAS, In 1982, the Pittsburgh Chapter hosted its first Presentation Ball after one of its junior members was denied the opportunity to participate in the local Cinderella Ball; and,   

 

WHEREAS, The City of Pittsburgh would like to congratulate the following sixteen exceptional teens being presented at the December 17, 2022 event:

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Pittsburgh Chapter for its endless dedication and contribution and leadership development to the youth of the City of Pittsburgh ; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, December 17, 2022, to be “Jack and Jill Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
