Title: WHEREAS, managed by Pittsburgh's own "Luscious" Johnny Valiant, the tag team of Demolition began on January 4, 1987 at the Springfield Civic Center in Massachusetts. On January 26, 1987, Barry Darsow joined Brownsville, Pennsylvania's own Bill Eadie to form the most recognizable and famous version of Demolition; and,

WHEREAS, managed by Pittsburgh’s own “Luscious” Johnny Valiant, the tag team of Demolition began on January 4, 1987 at the Springfield Civic Center in Massachusetts.  On January 26, 1987, Barry Darsow joined Brownsville, Pennsylvania’s own Bill Eadie to form the most recognizable and famous version of Demolition; and,

WHEREAS, Ax (Eadie) and Smash (Darsow) wore studded black leather outfits and masks to the ring, but with masks removed, the duo revealed what became iconic face paint.  Demolition’s first appearance in Pittsburgh was at the Civic Arena on May 29, 1987 when they defeated the Killer Bees-B. Brian Blair and “Jumpin” Jim Brunzell. The team won their first of three WWF tag team titles on March 27, 1988 against Strike Force, during WrestleMania IV; and,

 

WHEREAS, on June 10, 1988, Strike Force defeated Demolition by disqualification at the Civic Arena, but Ax and Smash kept their belts. The team would go on to defend the WWF tag team titles and over the next several years, Demolition would lose and then regain the WWF tag team championships; and,

 

WHEREAS, in 2008, Demolition Ax would return to Pittsburgh and wrestle for the Keystone State Wrestling Alliance. In 2009, Bill Eadie would become just the third member of the KSWA Hall of Fame; and,

 

WHEREAS, on October 10, 2009, Demolition defeated Lou Martin and Shawn Blanchard-the VIPs-for the KSWA Tag Team Championship, a championship they never lost. Demolition returned at FanFest in 2016 where they again defeated the VIPs in what was Demolition’s last match as a tag team.  In 2017, Demolition Ax defeated Shawn Blanchard at KSWA Brawl Under The Bridge, in his very last singles match; and,

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and congratulate Demolition, Ax and Smash, for their 35 years together; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Saturday, December 3, 2022 to be “Demolition Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
