Title: WHEREAS, Dear Zoe is an independent feature film based on the award-winning novel of the same name by Pittsburgh-based author Phillip Beard; and

WHEREAS, Dear Zoe is an independent feature film based on the award-winning novel of the same name by Pittsburgh-based author Phillip Beard; and

WHEREAS, the film was shot entirely in the Pittsburgh area, including locations in Braddock, Squirrel Hill, the Strip District, downtown, and at Kennywood; and

WHEREAS, Dear Zoe was produced by Pittsburgh native Marc Lhormer along with his wife Brenda via their production company, Zin Haze Productions LLC; and,

WHEREAS, the world premiere of Dear Zoe took place on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Pittsburgh's August Wilson African American Culture Center; and

WHEREAS, the film is a powerful coming-of-age drama that addresses the difficult situation many children face when a family member or friend suddenly passes away; and,

WHEREAS, November is Children's Grief Awareness Month, and November 17 is Children's Grief Awareness Day; and,

WHEREAS, The Highmark Caring Place, A Center for Grieving Children, Adolescents and Their Families, is a safe place where grieving children and families can come together and be with others who understand what they're going through, free of charge. and,

WHEREAS, the Caring Place will host a daylong program on November 17 to provide information and resources for families in need of support; and,

WHEREAS, Dear Zoe will promote important messages for audiences in Pittsburgh and everywhere else it is viewed; and,

WHEREAS, Dear Zoe debuted publicly on Friday, November 4, playing in theaters around the Pittsburgh area, including the Manor in Squirrel Hill, the Waterworks in Fox Chapel, the Cranberry Cinemas in the North Hills, and the Century Square Luxury Cinemas in the South Hills.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Pittsburgh City Council congratulates the actors, producers, directors, stage hands, and other staff who made Dear Zoe on a successful release; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare November 4, 2022, to be "...
