WHEREAS, The Honorable Kim Berkeley Clark is a judge for the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. She was appointed by former Governor Tom Ridge; and,

WHEREAS, Judge Clark has earned a bachelor’s degree in French from Tennessee State University. She then completed a J.D. at Duquesne University School of Law in 1983; and,

 

WHEREAS, after graduating from law school, Judge Clark began her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office. During her tenure there, she rose through the ranks, eventually becoming Deputy District Attorney; and,

 

WHEREAS, Judge Clark has sat on the Pennsylvania Juvenile Court Judges Commission, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Juvenile Procedural Rules Committee and the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency; and,   

 

WHEREAS, Judge Clark is a recipient of the African American Leadership Award for Excellence in Education from Duquesne Light (2007), the Wesley Spectrum Services Black History and Diversity Hero of the Year Award (2011) and the Judge Homer S. Brown Award from the Pittsburgh NAACP (2012); and,

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Judge Clark for her lifelong dedication to law enforcement, judicial careers and servant leadership; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, November 4, 2022, to be “Judge Kim Berkeley Clark Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
