WHEREAS, life’s most valuable of gifts are those that are difficult to calculate in material terms, given discreetly and without thought of reward; and,

WHEREAS, Mary Ann Bond, a lifelong resident of Garfield, eldest daughter of two hard-working Irish immigrants, Mary and John Bond, has distinguished herself in the humble, selfless acts that she does for others; and,
WHEREAS, a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Mary Ann began working for the Controller’s Office in October 1972, where she continues today, as the Controller’s Administrative Manager. With great tenacity, she monitors City government-related expenditures and payments to City vendors with accuracy; and
WHEREAS, Mary Ann Bond has worked for City Controllers John McGrady, Thomas Flaherty, and Michael Lamb, to provide independent and objective oversight to protect city dollars from waste, fraud and abuse; and
WHEREAS, her work ethic, and leadership exemplifies her dedication and contributions towards improving the quality of life for all people in the City of Pittsburgh; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh and City Controller does hereby recognize and honor the 50 years of important work and dedicated contributions of Mary Ann Bond; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh and City Controller does hereby declare, Tuesday, October 11, 2022 to be
“Mary Ann Bond Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
