Resolution authorizing the Mayor and Director of Public Safety, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, to enter into a Police Traffic Services Grant Agreement with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Transportation, Division of Highway Safety, for the purpose of receiving funds in the amount of ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY-FOUR THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED SIXTY-EIGHT DOLLARS AND NINETY-ONE CENTS ($174,468.91) that will be used for enforcement of drunk and impaired driving as well as related outreach activities.

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

Section 1.                     The Mayor and the Director of the Department of Public Safety, on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh, are hereby authorized to enter into a Police Traffic Services Grant Agreement with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Transportation, Division of Highway Safety for the receipt of grant monies in the amount of ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY-FOUR THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED SIXTY-EIGHT DOLLARS AND NINETY-ONE CENTS ($174,468.91). With this grant, the City’s Bureau of Police will fund enforcement of violations through sobriety checkpoints, roving DUI patrols and conduct outreach activities designed to raise public awareness of drunk and impaired driving. The grant will also cover enforcement activities for Aggressive Driving, Occupant Protection and Pedestrian Safety.  In addition, funds are provided for Travel and Training for Impaired Driving Education, equipment and supplies needed to support these activities. The Police Traffic Services Grant Agreement shall be approved as to form by the City Solicitor and monies shall be deposited into the following account: 2329400401.45505.00.

Section 2.                     The Mayor and the Director of the Department of Public Safety are hereby further authorized on behalf of the City of Pittsburgh to enter into an agreement or agreements and to make all legitimate expenditures required under the terms and conditions of the Police Traffic Services Grant Agreement with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Transportation, Division of Highway Safety as outlined in Section 1 above. Said agreement or agreements, or expenditures, shall not exceed ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY-FOUR THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED SIXTY-EIGHT DOLLARS AND NINETY-ONE CENTS ($174,468.91) chargeable to and payable from the appropriate expenditure line in the Grants Trust Fund account 2329400401.
