Title: WHEREAS, Phillip Douglas Byers was born August 26, 1952 in Columbus, Ohio. He is one of 12 children and grew up much like the 1968 comedy film "Yours, Mine and Ours"; and

WHEREAS, Phillip Douglas Byers was born August 26, 1952 in Columbus, Ohio. He is one of 12 children and grew up much like the 1968 comedy film “Yours, Mine and Ours”; and

WHEREAS, Phil graduated from Columbus North High School and married Terry Ferguson in January 1974. While working for Warner Cable in Columbus Ohio, he was transferred to their Pittsburgh office in 1981; and,

 

WHEREAS, he and his wife originally moved to Clairton PA and moved to Duquesne Heights in January 1983Shortly after, their son Brett was born in April 1984 and also resides in Duquesne Heights, where Phillip gets to see him often; and,

 

WHEREAS, after leaving Warner Cable, Mr. Byers spent the next 20 years as an employee with TruSense Marketing in Freedom PA; and,

 

WHEREAS, Phil’s passion is his family, which includes his fur babies. Along with his wife, they adopt senior dogs with medical issues so the fur babies know love. He says, "It’s difficult to lose the pups but that is nothing to show them love", as many have been mistreated prior to them being adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Byers; and,

 

WHEREAS, Phil enjoys walking the dogs he adopts because he meets so many neighbors and enjoys talking with them; and,

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Phillip Byers and congratulates him on his 70th Birthday; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Friday, August 26, 2022 to be “Phillip Douglas Byers’ Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
