WHEREAS, Joyce M Saunders was born July 20, 1922; and,
Body
WHEREAS, Mrs. Saunders is a spirit-filled grand and great grandmother and godmother to seven children and four adults who love her dearly; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Saunders attended Moorhead Elementary and graduated from Fifth Avenue High School June 19, 1941; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Saunders served as a supervisor of the dietary department of Montefiore hospital for 37 before her retirement; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Saunders is a proud member of the AARP at St James AME Church and an active member of Vintage Senior Center; and,
WHEREAS. Mrs. Saunders remains a devoted and loving wife (and friendly Shadyside neighbor) of 40 years to her husband, 97-year old Howard S. Saunders; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Saunders is the Church mother of First Baptist in Finleyville, Pennsylvania; and,
WHEREAS, Blessings and gratitude are always given in her presence; and,
WHEREAS, Joyce shows love and shares good feelings to whoever she meets; and,
WHEREAS, When you say, “goodbye,” she states,”No, say ‘see you later,’ God loves you and I love you too,” and
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby express its best wishes to Mrs. Joyce M Saunders on the celebration of her one-hundredth birthday.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare July 20, 2022, to be “Joyce Saunders Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
