WHEREAS, for the first time in four years, the 101st Biennial of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians will take place in person on July 14-17, 2022, in Pittsburgh;and,

WHEREAS, with funding from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, 1500 AOH/LAOH members , representing 35 states, will take part in 3 days of meetings, discussion and voting on a variety of issues including the organization’s charitable endeavors; and,
WHEREAS, the AOH and LAOH are committed to preserving the Irish-American connection to Ireland, their beloved Motherland and then to educate the younger generations about their Irish heritage; and,
WHEREAS, new National leadership will be installed on July 16, 2022, following a closing Mass.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians for its years of service to promote its Irish Heritage and Culture, for educating younger generations on the importance of preserving their Irish Heritage, for supporting the Catholic Church , for its support and loyalty to Ireland and the positive relationship between Ireland and the U.S. and for its philanthropic endeavors and recognizes the hard work in executing a national convention ; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Thursday, July 14, 2022 to Saturday July 17, 2022 to be “Ancient Order of Hibernians/Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Days” in the City of Pittsburgh.
