WHEREAS, Based on the core belief that everyone deserves a fair shot, The Brashear Association provides South Pittsburgh residents and community groups with access to quality programs and services that address social, education, health, and economic issues; and,

WHEREAS, established in 1917, The Brashear Association has consistently demonstrated an ability to respond to the changing and diverse needs of South Pittsburgh's multicultural, multigenerational community; and,
WHEREAS, Brashear's solid reputation of providing service excellence for more than 100 years has made it a sought-after partner among others who are working toward solutions to community challenges; and,
WHEREAS, Brashear regularly shares its experience and expertise, along with its centrally located facilities, in support of a number of community initiatives, such as LifeSpan, and the Birmingham Foundation; and,
WHEREAS, LifeSpan operates two service programs to support the homebound residents of Allegheny County. Their Options Care Management program has assisted 2,451 residents to remain safe and healthy in their homes through the development, implementation and monitoring of a comprehensive care assistance plan. Their Meals on Wheels Program has delivered in excess of 168,400 hot, cold and frozen meals annually to the homes of the frail, homebound residents. ; and,
WHEREAS, since its inception, the Birmingham Foundation "serve as a change agent for children in South Pittsburgh through the dynamic use of resources such as grant making, information-sharing, partnering and leveraging of assets."; and,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend the Brashear Association for its ardent displays of engagement, leadership and integrity throughout its 105 years of service; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, May 31, 2022 to be "Brashear Association Day" in the City of...
