Title: WHEREAS, as a young woman fresh out of high school, Patty Reed took a job as a Clerk Typist II in Pittsburgh's Traffic Court.; and,

WHEREAS,  as a young woman fresh out of high school, Patty Reed took a job as a Clerk Typist II in Pittsburgh’s Traffic Court.; and,

 

Body

WHEREAS,  as the years passed and times changed, Patty worked in almost every Municipal Court position including Animal Control Information Window, Nights in Traffic Court back when they were on Monday and Wednesday nights, and in every department and position inside Traffic Court; and,   

 

WHEREAS, because of her friendly, outgoing, pleasant demeanor, Patty was able to navigate through all of those important positions successfully and collaboratively She was known as Patty B. at a time when it was considered unsafe to use your last name and has been known as Patty B ever since ;and,

 

WHEREAS, in 1994, after 10 years as a Cashier, she was promoted to Cashier II and put in charge of all Traffic Court finances. In 2005, when all of Pittsburgh’s Municipal Court was moved into the County and State systems, Patty B was promoted to Supervisor of Cashiers. In 2021, when the Traffic Court Division Supervisor retired, Patty B was her natural replacement.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Patty Reed, known as Patty B for 45 years of commitment and service to the City of Pittsburgh Traffic Court and congratulates her on her retirement, having been a consistent, reliable, friendly, pleasant role model and leaving a legacy of leadership for her work; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, May 20, 2022, to be “PATTY REED DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.
