WHEREAS, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, in partnership with the Pittsburgh Steelers, will be hosting the Mobile Mammogram Screening Event & Health Fair from May 17-18 at the FedEx Great Hall in Heinz Field; and,

WHEREAS, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Mobile Mammography Unit is equipped and staffed to provide 3D mammograms, as 50 men and women are expected to be tested each day during the health fair; and,
WHEREAS, by partnering with other local organizations, additional services will be offered at the fair, including HIV testing, Covid-19 testing, vaccinations and blood pressure monitoring, all provided for free to the people of Pittsburgh; and,
WHEREAS, since 2018, the Mobile Mammography Unit has traveled to more than 40 cities across the Unites States to provide free mammograms to thousands of women; and,
WHEREAS, whenever Alpha Kappa Alpha visits a community, the reach and impact to a community is maximized by co-hosting pop-up events with hallmark institutions such as the Pittsburgh Steelers, UPMC, Ford Motor Company, the American Red Cross, blood banks and healthcare focused organizations;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Alpha Kappa Alpha’s leadership in organizing and hosting the Mobile Mammogram Screening Event & Health Fair.
