Title: WHEREAS, born in Queens, New York and raised in Long Island, Mike Dunleavy began his affiliation with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union No. 5 in 1975 while working summers as a helper. Mike was an Accounting Major at West Virginia University when he was accepted into the IBEW Apprenticeship Program at CCAC, completing the program in 1978; and,

WHEREAS, officially sworn into the IBEW in 1980, Mike began work as a Journeyman-Wireman and Foreman, and in 1991, he became General Superintendent at Sargent Electric; and,

WHEREAS, in addition to getting his start at Sargent Electric, Mike Dunleavy's work experience included positions at Fallon Electric, Hanlon Electric and back to Sargent Electric where he became Manager of Sargent Electric's Commercial Division and Manager of the Service Maintenance Division; and,

WHEREAS, Mike Dunleavy first held elected local union office in 1988 as a member of the IBEW Executive Board. He went on to serve as Secretary and later Chairman of the Board, Local Union Secretary, Local Union President, Assistant Business Manager and Business and Financial Secretary of Local Union No.5. Mike has also been honored to serve on a variety of committees, boards, associations, councils, delegations, PACs and Trust Funds; and,

WHEREAS, on March 26, 2022, Mike Dunleavy will be honored at the UMPC Club at Heinz Field on the occasion of his retirement. Mike will be recognized and celebrated for his 44 years of service, 14 of which he served as Business Manager for IBEW Local 5 and the Electrical Industry.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Mike Dunleavy for his 44 years of dedication, steadfast support and commitment to the Electrical Industry, the IBEW Local # 5 and the Pittsburgh community.
